Absa Premiership leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, have been handed a knock ahead of their upcoming league game, and Ernst Middendorp has admitted that it’s a ‘dampener’ for him…
George Maluleka picked up his fourth yellow card of the season over the weekend as he was booked for time-wasting in the 3-0 victory over Cape Town City, meaning that he will now have to sit out the game against Black Leopards on Saturday afternoon.
‘Mido’ put in a Man of the Match performance last time out as he continued his good form in an Amakhosi jersey in 2020, and he has been described as ‘exceptional’ by his German head coach ahead of his one-game ban.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Middendorp said, “George Maluleka’s yellow card is a dampener for me… He played well and deserved his Man of the Match award. He covered enough ground and was exceptional. It’s a pity he’ll miss a trip to Black Leopards this coming weekend due to this fourth yellow.”
It remains to be seen who will be chosen to come into the starting XI in place of the 31-year-old midfield man, especially with Khama Billiat still injured, and it could open a door for young Nkosingiphile Ngcobo to get his first start since his major injury last year.
Who do you think should start in Chiefs’ midfield on Saturday?
