Middendorp Give Chiefs Insight, Names Three Chippa Danger Men
Ernst Middendorp knows that a victory for Kaizer Chiefs tonight is crucial as they have their last shot at silverware this season, and has given an insight into how the players are feeling.
The Amakhosi face Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium this evening as the Glamour Boys and Chilli Boyz lock horns for a spot in the final of this year’s Nedbank Cup.
Middendorp has had a boost on the player front given the return of Leonardo Castro, though it remains to be seen how many changes he will make from the XI that he named for the 1-1 draw against Black Leopards last weekend.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website ahead of the clash at 20h15 tonight, their head coach explained, “It is very interesting to see the mood in the camp… Usually you find players looking tense before an important game, but I am happy to see that they all look at ease and in good spirit.
“We have seen in the previous three rounds that there was always that will to advance to the next stage. And I see this now again, they really want to win.”
Meanwhile with regards to their opponents tonight, the German went on to say, “It promises to be a tough match, they beat top sides like Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits to reach this stage, which shows that they’re a good side. They also have good players in Thabo Rakhale, Mark Manyambela and Kurt Lentjies, to name a few.”
“Our eyes are solely focused on the game against Chippa. Nothing else matters at this stage.”
