For the first time since their pre-season began, Kaizer Chiefs’ Ernst Middendorp has commented on the club’s new signings in the build-up to the 2019/20 season.
The Glamour Boys previously announced the arrival of Lazarous Kambole, James Kotei, Samir Nurkovic and Kearyn Baccus, and Middendorp has been putting them through their paces as they look to get them ready for their opening Absa Premiership game next month.
Middendorp has praised the quartet for how they’ve handled themselves on their arrival in South Africa, admitting that they ‘don’t have much time’ as their first game with Highlands Park draws closer.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website, the German said, “The four new guys have been working hard and we believe they will adapt quickly to our system and hit the ground running because we don’t have much time.
“We have been working on the players’ mental strength and teamwork which will see them communicate better in all departments.”
Middendorp also added that they are hoping to have more players back after their respective international commitments before they leave for Botswana on Friday, saying, “We have been keeping in touch with the technical and medical teams of the various national teams to check on our players and so far, there are no injury worries. We hope more players will join us as the week progresses and will be with us when we travel to Botswana on Friday.”
Chiefs face Township Rollers on Saturday afternoon in a pre-season friendly in Gaborone.
