The Glamour Boys are doing fine in 2019/20 as they eye an end to the longest trophy drought in the club’s history, and are four points clear at the top of the table with eight games left to play once the Coronavirus situation has settled down.
But with George Maluleka leaving for Mamelodi Sundowns, Leonardo Castro yet to sign a new deal, and the possibility that they may not be able to bring anyone in if they fail in their appeal against FIFA’s ban, there are players in their youth ranks that may be called upon in 2020/21.
The likes of Njabulo Blom, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Happy Mashiane are expected to step up into more prominent roles having all previously made their senior debuts for the club, while Bontle Molefe has been with the first team for some time.
It is possible that promotions from the Multichoice Diski Challenge side could be on the cards for Lebohang Lesako and top scorer, Sibusiso Milazi, with players such as Itumeleng Shopane and Given Thibedi both shining in the GladAfrica Championship during their time with Swallows FC – they could return to Naturena next season.
Chiefs may well have to look internally when it comes to ‘new’ signings for the upcoming campaign, although that will all rely on whether – and/or when – they are successful in their appeal to have their ban thrown out.
