New Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach, Dillon Sheppard opened up about his first experience of the Village.
Sheppard was appointed alongside Arthur Zwane to serve as Gavin Hunt’s right-hand men for the 2020/21 season, taking over from Ernst Middendorp and Shaun Bartlett who left Chiefs earlier this month.
Speaking on Amakhosi’s official YouTube channel, Sheppard, who assisted Hunt during the duo’s time at Wits, spoke about his first experience of the Village and its top facilities.
“Unbelievable, I have been blessed to have played in Europe, I have been at some big clubs and I must say that I was totally shocked when I came in here,” he said.
“Going into the offices and the analysis rooms, going down to the pitch getting the feeling of the whole village, you even took me across to the youth setup and looking at the boarding and lodging for the kids, unbelievable. It is an environment where you can see that it breeds football.
“I don’t even live so far away you always just drive past but now being inside here you only realize that this is like a dream for any kind of youngster and a dream for myself being a coach coming inside here and being part of this huge setup like I said I was hugely blown away.”
