Whether Samir Nurkovic will be able to add to his Kaizer Chiefs tally this season remains to be seen, but there’s only one Amakhosi player he can take aim at catching…
The Serbian is having an excellent debut campaign in the Absa Premiership after he was snapped up by Ernst Middendorp at the start of the season, grabbing 11 league goals so far with eight matches still left to play.
Though it is currently unknown whether – or when – the league will resume due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has caused problems all over the world, the 27-year-old will have his mind set on reaching or bettering Knowledge Musona’s 15-goal achievement back in 2010/11, and he actually has the best return of any player in recent memory with 0.58 goals per game (Musona in 2010/11 was 0.54).
While catching The Smiling Assassin is a credible goal, however, the forward is too far away from taking aim at Collins Mbesuma, a man who found the net a whopping 25 times in 2004/05 on the way to the clinching the Golden Boot that season.
Interestingly, looking back as far as 2006/07, Chiefs’ most clinical striker in the league has been Kaizer Motaung Jnr when he averaged a goal every 140 minutes - Nurkovic is at 151 minutes and Musona was at 152.
Do you think that ‘Kokota’ can beat Musona’s tally this season?
