Kaizer Chiefs find themselves sitting pretty at the top of the Absa Premiership table, but there may be some tough decisions to come for the club as the transfer window approaches.
Check out six players that could look to leave Chiefs in January in the gallery above!
The Glamour Boys have had a fine start to this season’s campaign having lost just once in eight games as they climbed to the league summit, and Ernst Middendorp is making full use of his side by using 23 different players along the way.
There is, however, a number of players who haven’t played a single minute in 2019/20 so far, some of whom haven’t even managed to make it into the matchday squad despite being fit and ready for action.
Chiefs stars such as new signing, James Kotei, attacking players like Siphelele Ntshangase and Kabelo Mahlasela, as well as Philani Zulu, Joseph Molangoane and Kgotso Moleko, are all waiting for their first minutes of the campaign despite being almost a third of the way through it., though all but Molangoane did feature in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup and Macufe Cup games over the weekend.
Molangoane and Moleko signed new contracts at Naturena not too long ago but don’t appear to be in Middendorp’s plans, while Kotei appears to be taking time to settle in in South Africa following his move from Simba SC in Tanzania.
With that in mind, the players may be inclined to make a decision about whether they’re happy to sit in the stands for the remainder of the campaign or look to move on in the January transfer window, especially if the club delves into the market once again to strengthen in areas of the squad.
The Siya crew will keep tabs on the situation as the weeks progress, with the players unlikely to be short of options if it does become apparent that Chiefs would be willing to let them chase more regular game-time elsewhere.
