Kaizer Chiefs have on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the arrival of a new face at their training base in Naturena.
The Siya crew reported on Saturday that Jardel Nazaré, who played for Sao Tome against Bafana Bafana in a recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last year, was being assessed by the Glamour Boys and hoping to impress coach Gavin Hunt.
Now, Amakhosi have issued a brief statement informing their fan base on Twitter that the Portuguese-born left back is being drilled with a decision expected at a later stage.
Nazaré is currently without a club, meaning he would not cost Chiefs a penny in transfer fees, should the club bring him on board.
Amakhosi were unable to beef up Hunt’s squad this season because of the FIFA ban, which will be lifted effective July 1.
It’s expected that there will be a few changes – some of the players out of contract being released while others stay on as an overhaul takes its course.
The likes of Brandon Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti, Phathutshedzo Nange and Kgaogelo Sekgota have been recruited and thought to have penned contracts already, though they were allowed to join other clubs due to the transfer sanction.
Petersen, however, remained at Naturena to recover from a long-term injury.
