Kaizer Chiefs should be on high alert in their next game as their opponents appear to be in no mood to let the opportunity of bagging three points slip when the two sides clash this weekend in the DStv Premiership.
Having beaten Chiefs 1-0 in their last match at FNB Stadium in April, Chippa United aim to cause a similar upset when they re-visit the same venue on Saturday for the first round match of this season.
Defender Veluyeke Zulu, who has been influential for the Chilli Boys after he became the first player in the 2021/22 campaign to receive consecutive Man of the Match awards in the league, says the Chiefs clash will be more like a cup final as both teams are desperate for points.
“With regards to the Man of the Match awards that I have got, it was all because of teamwork. Had it not been for my teammates, I wouldn’t have received those Man of the Match awards. So, I give credit to the whole team for the way we play even if we lost some of the matches and didn’t get the desired results. But with the way we play, if we can convert our chances, we’d be talking something different,” said Zulu, speaking through the club’s media department.
“It’s not going to be easy because they (Chiefs) also want maximum points. We are also going for the maximum points, and I think that a team that does better on the day is going to win the match. I don’t think that there’s anyone of us who wants to lose. It’s going to be a difficult game, and more like a final,” the centre-back added.
