There’s a vacancy at Kaizer Chiefs following the departure of one of their youth coaches, and it is believed the club is contemplating a replacement.
Amakhosi have recently parted company with Sundra Moonsamy, who spent a number of years as their head of youth development.
News reaching the Siya crew is that they could be looking to finally bring in someone to fill the role and have touted several candidates for the position, though it is not clear when the club plans to make the appointment due to football currently being halted by Covid-19.
Moonsamy is believed to have relocated to Tshwane and therefore could not continue his work with the Glamour Boys.
Chiefs have looked to their youth in recent times for players ready to step up to the senior team and make an immediate impact like Njabulo Blom and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo under the watchful eye of Arthur Zwane as the reserve team coach.
It’s emerged that Farouk Khan was approached in the past about the role, but nothing has come out of those informal talks, especially because the former Amakhosi assistant coach is a director at the famous Stars of Africa Academy and that remains his priority.
Khan has been able to produce high grade young players who have moved to Europe, but for a Chiefs reunion to be possible he may have to step away from his academy.
The club also hired Walter Steenbok early last year as head scout, and his eye for talent could make him a candidate for a double role with the youth at Chiefs.
