Coach Gavin Hunt has suggested defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele is an injury doubt ahead of Friday’s return leg against PWD Bamenda in the preliminary round of Africa’s premium club tournament.
Mphahlele was substituted at half-time in Amakhosi’s 1-0 win in Limbe on Sunday afternoon and Hunt hinted he could be sidelined for longer.
“Rama obviously is a problem, big problem for us with that hamstring or whatever it was,” said Hunt in his post-match reaction to the media.
The experienced veteran has been used all over the back four so far this season, with Hunt having revealed that he’d asked Mphahlele to play as a centreback because they were thin having not been able to sign new players.
Chiefs have been banned by FIFA from new registrations and can only do transfer dealings from 1 July 2021 – not any time before that.
The club has not yet issued a medical report, but ‘Rama’ is now a doubt for Friday’s match and maybe even their DStv Premiership clash against Black Leopards next week.
