The Siya crew has learnt that Amakhosi are expected to “meet soon” with Siphelele Ntshangase, the club’s out of favour midfielder, for a discussion around his future.
He was thrust back into the spotlight last weekend when coach Gavin Hunt gave him a rare start in the Nedbank Cup opening round against lower division side Richards Bay, only to be yanked off at half-time.
Chiefs went on to lose 2-1, with Hunt labelling the result as “embarrassing” for Amakhosi and his own personal record as he claimed he’d never lost to a second tier outfit in all 27-odd years as a topflight coach.
Ntshangase was also hardly used by Ernst Middendorp in the season and a half the German mentor was in the Chiefs hot seat, but with him parting ways with the club in September, the Glamour Boys surprised everyone by exercising the players’ contract.
But a source close to the player told the Siya crew that ‘Stash’ was now officially in the final few months of his contract without an added option.

“When his option was exercised in June there was no added option, so for him to stay the club has to offer him a new contract. They should meet soon, but at this moment his future with Chiefs is a bit of a concern,” said the source.
Indications, then, are that Ntshangase is set for crunch talks at the club, though no specific date was given, that will give a clear indication on whether he stays or goes.
