News reaching the Siya crew is that Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have made their intentions of signing defender Sibusiso Mabiliso, crystal clear.
It’s understood the Glamour Boys have written a letter to AmaZulu to confirm they have indeed approached the player to join them next season.
Sandile Zungu, the Usuthu chairman, told the Siya crew last week that he was unaware that there was interest in Mabiliso from their Premier Soccer League rivals, claiming the player's agent, Miguel Paiva, had informed the club he wanted “to sell him overseas” and “wont shop him around locally”.
But the Siya crew has it on good authority that the junior international, who last week received a Bafana Bafana call-up, is most likely heading to Chiefs.
AmaZulu have tried to fend off interest in the player by offering him a new contract with his current deal expiring at the end of next month, Zungu confirmed.
If Amakhosi confirm Mabiliso’s arrival, it will be on a free.
The chairman conceded that the 22-year-old had not signed the proposed offer, which is further proof that he could very well have his heart set on moving to Naturena.
Asked whether he had received communication from Chiefs letting them know they were in talks with Mabiliso, as per NSL rules, Zungu was non-committal.
“I am not saying I have not received it, I am just too busy and I don’t know where it could have been sent to,” Zungu explained.
“All I can tell you is what the agent said to us.”
Paiva, who represents Mabiliso, did not wish to comment.
