The Siya crew understands that Kaizer Chiefs have had their pursuit of one of Baroka FC’s key assets turned down – for now.
Goodman Mosele, as reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, has emerged as a target for Amakhosi despite the club still not having yet heard from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding their appeal of the FIFA ban.
Chiefs were slapped with a two-window sanction by the world football governing body back in February and, while they can sign players, they can’t register them for the 2020/21 season, leaving new coach Gavin Hunt with the same faces from the previous term.
Mosele, 20, has enjoyed a remarkable period in topflight football with 64 games for Bakgaga since he was promoted to the first team three years ago.
He is a nominee for the Absa Premiership Young Player of the Season and has recently attracted interest from abroad – and now locally from Chiefs.
But Siya sources have informed the crew that Baroka are unwilling to sell to a local club at this stage, with the hierarchy holding out for a move abroad for the junior international.
Mosele is also eyeing a spot in David Notoane’s Olympic squad in Tokyo next year, but if Chiefs are desperate enough for a player of his quality, don’t rule out more talks behind the scenes to try and convince Baroka to sell their prized asset!
