In just a matter of weeks, there’s been talk of another Kaizer Chiefs player being on the radar of clubs in Europe, though the final decision rests with Amakhosi.
Young defender Reeve Frosler is understood to have caught the eye of teams in France and Germany as his profile continues to grow on the back of solid performances for the Glamour Boys following his move from Bidvest Wits last year.
The Siya crew also reported last week that goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Frosler’s call-up to the national team by Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki recently, although the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome was called off because of the Coronavirus, would have come as a big boost as well.
The 22-year-old got his career back on track at Chiefs in January last year after his switch from the Clever Boys, where he had been left frustrated on the sidelines with reports that his future would be away from Sturrock Park.
Ernst Middendorp, the Amakhosi coach, has often spoke very highly of Frosler, who needed time to regain his full fitness at Naturena and hit the ground running once that was no longer a stumbling block – Frosler has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Chiefs this season and is the regular right back ahead of Ramahlwe Mphahlele.
Chiefs hold all the cards to a possible move to Europe because he still has two more years to run on his contract beyond the 2019/20 season.
However, the club has not often stood in the way of a chance for one of their players to further their careers in Europe, though there are two factors to consider: Chiefs’ two-window transfer ban by FIFA and the Coronavirus.
But a sizeable transfer fee would be appealing for Amakhosi to consider letting Frosler go.
