Chiefs Confirm Fifa Ban Latest

Kaizer Chiefs have finally broken their silence on the club’s two-window FIFA ban appeal, which caused quite a stir on Monday.

As reported by the Siya crew a week ago, Amakhosi now have a date for their appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and will be hoping the restriction on registering new players until after the January transfer window in 2021 can be lifted.

“Kaizer Chiefs appeal against the transfer ban imposed by FIFA is set for 8-9 September with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS),” the club said in a brief statement on their website, though this information was already in the public domain last week.

“FIFA has found that the signing of Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana in August 2018 flaunted the FIFA’s transfer regulations. Subsequently, Kaizer Chiefs appealed against the ruling and will get a chance to prove otherwise through the appeal process. FIFA imposed the transfer ban following a complaint by Dax’s former Malagasy club Fosa Juniors.

"Kaizer Chiefs will give an update on the processes as the case has implications on the upcoming transfer window.”

Until such a time, Amakhosi cannot register new players.

According to Article 58.4 of the Fifa statutes: "The appeal shall not have a suspensive effect. The appropriate FIFA body or, alternatively, CAS may order the appeal to have a suspensive effect."
