Cape Town City have suffered a huge blow ahead of their scheduled match against Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.
Following their 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, the Citizens have remained in Gauteng as they are expected to face Amakhosi on Saturday in a match that was originally scheduled for December last year but didn’t take place after the Soweto giants suffered a Covid-19 outbreak in their camp.
After initially appearing to be reluctant to visit Chiefs again, City seem to have decided to honour the fixture after all, with the club’s head coach Eric Tinkler having confirmed after the Sundowns match that the team would be staying in Gauteng until the weekend.

Meanwhile, as confirmed by the League, City will be without their captain Thamsanqa Mkhize and his defensive partner Nathan Fasika Idumba against Chiefs.
Both players, who were in the starting line-up and marshalled the Mother City outfit’s defence against Downs, picked up yellow cards that rule them out of the clash.
The two players are regulars for City and have been some of the outstanding stars in the team’s resurgence in the club’s DStv Premiership campaign in the second half of the season and it is no doubt that their contribution will be missed by the team on Saturday.
