The agent of Stuart Baxter has revealed to the Siya crew that the coach is on his way to South Africa to discuss his next big job.
Baxter, 67, has been heavily linked with a return to Kaizer Chiefs for a second spell at a club where he won two league titles before resigning in 2015.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, the Englishman was understood to have reached advanced talks with Amakhosi earlier this week and then expected to make his way to Mzansi should the two parties agree terms.
While his agent Steve Kapelushnick would not be drawn into commenting about the ex-Bafana Bafana coach’s potential second stint at Naturena, he did confirm that Baxter was leaving his home in Sweden and heading to SA.
“I am in KwaZulu-Natal at the moment and have asked Stuart to meet me. He is on his way to Johannesburg and we will meet soon to discuss his next step forward,” the representative explained when contacted.
“There is an offer from Sweden and we are in talks with local clubs, but we still have to map out a way forward and then we can take it from there. And hopefully this will be done in the next few days.”
Baxter’s last coaching job was in India with Odisha FC, but he was relieved of his duties following comments he made in post-match TV interview, though he did later apologise before making his way to SA to see his family.
He returned to Sweden on May 12.
Chiefs are without a coach since last week Friday, having sacked Gavin Hunt after just eight months at the club and are looking to bring in a replacement as soon as possible, and Baxter is understood to be the front runner.
