The season may not be a complete disaster after all, with Kaizer Chiefs still in a position to finish in the top eight after Arthur Zwane's men were inspired to a hard-fought victory by an inspirational Lebogang Manyama.
Chiefs registered only their seventh victory over the season on Wednesday night, coming from behind to beat Golden Arrows 3-2 at FNB Stadium.
Manyama bagged his first hat-trick as an Amakhosi player, taking his tally for the season in the league to eight goals.
The former Cape Town City captain has been struggling for form this season, but looked rejuvenated in what was Chiefs' first game without sacked coach Gavin Hunt, who had his contract terminated by the club last Friday, two days after the Soweto giants' league defeat to Black Leopards.
While it was not an all too convincing display, Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane would no doubt have been happy with the fighting spirit from the players after they went down twice in the game. They responded well and it's what they will need in the final game of the season against TS Galaxy, if they are to finish in the top eight.
