With the January transfer window now in full swing, a new face was spotted at Naturena today ahead of a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs before the month is out…
While it’s no secret that Amakhosi are interested in snapping up free agent, Anthony Akumu, following his exit from ZESCO United recently, there has been no official word on where things are at regarding the move.
The defensive midfielder was at FNB Stadium earlier this week to watch Chiefs’ 3-0 win over Highlands Park to go six points clear at the top of the table, and the Siya crew has now been informed that he was spotted at Naturena today as a switch seemingly draws closer.
With Leonardo Castro, Samir Nurkovic, Daniel Akpeyi, Lazarous Kambole and James Kotei currently filling the club’s foreign quota, it is thought that Kotei could make way for Akumu in order for a deal to be completed, with talk of a possible termination for the Ghanaian despite him not having made a club debut yet.
Akumu, 27, has a good reputation in Zambia given his performances in a ZESCO shirt over the last couple of years, and the big Kenyan will be eager to make his mark in South Africa if given the opportunity.
