Akumu, who came in to replace the departing James Kotei, is thought to be nursing a minor injury at present following his move to Naturena this month, but it has also now been revealed that he hasn’t yet received his paperwork to play for the club.

Chiefs said on their official website ahead of today’s game, “Akumu Agay is waiting for his paperwork and preparing to be integrated into the fold.”

Chiefs managed to extend their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership table to 10 points today with a last-minute smash and grab win over Golden Arrows, with Lebogang Manyama scoring in the dying moments to give them a 1-0 victory.

Ernst Middendorp now has a couple of weeks to get his team back to full strength, with Reeve Frosler returning from injury today and Khama Billiat closing in on a return following his injury problems.

The two-week break also gives Chiefs the opportunity to finalise the midfielder’s paperwork ahead of their Nedbank Cup game against Royal Eagles, a match that could be the perfect chance for the former ZESCO United man to make his Amakhosi bow.
