In their chase of a better position in the top eight of the DStv Premiership log, AmaZulu are going for a victory in this afternoon’s match against Kaizer Chiefs.
Following a perfect start for Benni McCarthy as the coach of Usuthu in the 3-1 win over Chippa United at Kings Park Stadium in December, the Durban-based side were disrupted in their progress in the new year after playing a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic on the weekend away from home.

With the team returning to Kings Park Stadium for the Chiefs clash, Usuthu aim to emulate their neighbours Maritzburg United by beating the Soweto giants, with midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe confirming that his team is eyeing nothing less than a victory to prove their understanding of their new coach.
“All I can say is that we know that Kaizer Chiefs is a big team but our preparations with the coach have gone well. It’s our home game and we have to go all out,” he said, speaking through the club’s media department.

“We have managed to quickly understand how he (Benni) wants us to play and are getting used to his style of play. I think we are on the right track (under Benni), we have got four points and dropped only two. Going into the next game we need three points because it’s our home game,” said Sithebe.
The last time the two teams played Usuthu defeated Amakhosi 1-0 in March at FNB Stadium under former coach Ayanda Dlamini.
