Amakhosi’s Middendorp Talks SuperSport & Chiefs’ Injury List
Ernst Middendorp knows that Kaizer Chiefs will have have a battle on their hands at Mbombela Stadium against SuperSport United, though is not too concerned about their injury problems.
Chiefs currently have the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Lebogang Manyama, Erick Mathoho and others out of action as the business end of the Absa Premiership season approaches, and they face a SuperSport side with a bit of form and currently two places ahead of them in fifth.
Tonight’s game could potentially be a huge setback for both clubs as they look to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the table, and the German admits that it will have a role to play in whether they can keep up the challenge.
Speaking to the club’s official website today, Middendoprp said, “The match against SuperSport United will play a role in deciding who will be in the running for top league positions… It promises to be a tough fixture against an opponent that’s on a good run. We have all the positions covered despite the injury list and we will field a strong team to do the job.
“SuperSport United have a good squad, but we are here to perform and do what we need to do, I’m satisfied with our preparations. We just need to walk on the pitch and do what we have practiced during the week.”
There could be another couple of debuts on the cards for Chiefs tonight if Njabulo Blom is given a nod after making the travelling squad, while Reeve Frosler is also still waiting for his first appearance in Amakhosi colours.
