There’s some development at Naturena regarding the pursuit of one of their targets, with Siya sources indicating an offer is now on the table.
Sifiso Hlanti has been in a bit of limbo regarding his future and is expected to reject an offer to relocate to Thohoyandou with the new owners who purchased the top flight Premier Soccer League status of Bidvest Wits recently.
It was last month that the Siya crew first reported of ongoing talks between the Clever Boys and Orlando Pirates for the possible signing of Hlanti next season, but since then Kaizer Chiefs, who have always been admirers, have made a big leap and are understood to be leading the race for the defenders’ signature.
Wits has been officially sold to businessman Masala Mulaudzi and the process to move the club to Limpopo and rename it Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila is underway.
But Hlanti, insiders say, is not keen on making the great trek to Venda and is hopeful he will join a new club in Gauteng – and all the Big Three clubs are keen on him.
Chiefs, however, are believed to be preparing an offer to make sure they don’t miss out on having him put pen to paper sooner rather than later.
The Glamour Boys do still have to wait to learn their own fate on September 9 when their FIFA ban appeal is heard at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Amakhosi have been sanctioned from registering new players over the next two transfer windows, but are hedging their bets with confidence that they can have the ban overturned, allowing them to boost their squad.
