Egyptian Premier League Star Has Red Card Overturn
Arsenal have successfully appealed the red card Egypt international Mohamed Elneny picked up in the 3-2 win over Southampton on Saturday.
The Egypt international was sent off for the first time in his professional career in the 91st minute of this past weekend's Premier League win over the Saints after an altercation with Jack Stephens.
He also became the first Egyptian in any European league to see red all season and was facing a suspension for his sending off.
However, the Gunners were quick to appeal the decision and the Football Association have since overturned the sending off, meaning Elneny is free to face Newcastle at St James' Park on Sunday.
An FA statement, posted on Arsenal's official website, read: "Mohamed Elneny will be available for Arsenal’s next three games after an Independent Regulatory Commission accepted that he was wrongly dismissed for violent conduct against Southampton on Sunday, April 8, 2018."
