The 2015/16 season has been one to forget for Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs. Nothing has worked out as planned for Steve Komphela's side, and they should only start looking forward to next season.
Amakhosi have failed to defend the MTN8 trophy and seem highly unlikely to defend the PSL title. Amakhosi faithfuls are seemingly fed up with how things are currently going at Naturena, and have voiced their frustrations.
Even though a fraction of Chiefs' fans have called for Komphela's sacking, while it seems the majority believe he can do the job. However, in order to succeed there needs to be wholesale changes with regard to the squad. Komphela has been working with an ageing team, and this is one of the main reasons why Amakhosi have experienced such a miserable season.
A number of players have seemed like they aren't Chiefs material, while others no longer fit the bill at the Soweto giants, such as Edward Manqele, Siphelele Mthembu, Ivan Bukenya, Morgan Gould, Bernard Parker, Sula Matovu, Siboniso Gaxa, and Camaldine Abraw.
The Amakhosi faithfuls are pleading with Kaizer Motaung Snr to open his cheque book wide enough for 'Bra Steve' to make changes. When it comes to purchasing players, we all know Chiefs are no big spenders, but surely with the current squad they will be forced to go into the market this time around.
Though it's not possible to chop the whole team, the truth is that Chiefs need to ring quite a lot of changes. It's a bitter truth that there's actually more deadwood at Naturena than necessary.
For Komphela to succeed next season, and if he is to be given another chance, he would surely need go on a shopping spree. Even if he's to be axed before next campaign, whoever replaces him will no choice but splash cash on quite a number of new players. It now seems like Chiefs have no choice but to see a mass exodus of players come end of season.
Do you think Chiefs will experience a mass exodus at the end of the season?
