Stuart Baxter is reportedly set to be announced the new Bafana Bafana head coach. This is Baxter's second spell, as he was the coach between 2004 and 2005.
Baxter was brought back to the country by Kaizer Motaung a few years ago to coach Kaizer Chiefs. He was unfairly judged by the South African media and football fans upon his return, based on his controversial spell with Bafana Bafana, being given funny nicknames such as "Mr CV cooker".
Now a head coach for SuperSport United, Baxter has won multiple league and cup titles in Mzansi, proving to his doubters that he is amongst the best tacticians in the country.
His unsuccessful spell in Turkey with Genclerbirligi was a blessing in disguise for SuperSport and Bafana. Baxter knows our players inside and out; he knows their strengths and limitations. He knows the set-up at SAFA, having been at the helm before, and he knows how SA football needs to be developed in order to be a force to be reckoned with in world football.
Baxter's experience will surely be an asset to the country as he needs no introduction to both South Africa and African football. His success in the country proves that he is the right man to take us to the world cup.
