Former Orlando Pirates and current Ajax Cape Town coach, Roger De Sa, had a very unlucky time at Mayfair, with his team getting four runners-ups medals while playing great football.
Even with De Sa's assistant coach Erick Tinkler taking the reins after he was sacked, with Vladimir Vermezovic having a spell with the team in between, and the team was lacking the killer instant up front as well as luck, with the team falling just short in two cup finals under the Tinkler’s tutelage.
But with Muhsin Ertugral, the team plays boring football, relying solely on Tendai Ndoro’s goals and you could doubt whether the coach has even ad a full pre-season with the team.
The team already got knocked out by Bidvest Wits in MTN8 tournament in their only game against a so-called “big team”, and their league run was better against small teams where they won thanks to Mhlongo’s and Ndoro’s performances.
Pirates may be top of the log, but they aren’t convincing in their wins. Although its early to write any team off but, there’s a lot of work need to be done at pirates.
De Sa’ and Tinkler’s Pirates’ teams needed a lethal striker like Ndoro, with quality midfielder like Manyisa to win all those finals, but Mushin is yet to play great football with them and all the new signings.
Was De Sa's Pirates better than Muhsin’s Pirates?
