Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, started the season on the wrong foot. In the early stages of the league, the club did not do well.
Chiefs fans lost hope and demanded a new coach, complaining that Komphela had failed to win any major trophies. Komphela signed two players, Joseph Malongoane and Gustavo Paez and the team improved. Fans showed their support when Chiefs beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 and then few weeks later, the club started to concede late goals. Now there are two games left for Komphela to prove that he can do it and Chiefs can mathematically finish third.
However, after losing the match against Polokwane City, it won’t be easy for Komphela to make third place, as Cape Town City currently lie five points ahead of Chiefs in third place and would have to lose both of their games (Golden Arrows and Polokwane City), while Chiefs need two wins - against Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits.
