Ryan Moon came on in Kaizer Chiefs' 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows to score his first Chiefs goal. The young forward has been sharpening his skills in Chiefs' MDC side since being signed from Maritzburg United.
Kaizer Chiefs have a number of young players in their first team and are also set to promote more, such as Itu Shopane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. The team is going through a transition from a team that boasted stars such as Siphiwe Tshabalala and Itumeleng Khune to that of Bruce Bvuma and Lorenzo Gordinho. This indicates that the future is indeed bright for Amakhosi and Chiefs also have the likes of Emmanuel Letlotlo waiting to make a comeback from injury.
Ryan Moon's goal was incredibly composed in its finish. The boy was disciplined enough to break the offside line, control the ball with his chest, turn to his left to finish with aplomb. A glimpse of the late Lesley Manyathela was on the show for the Khosination. Manyathela is a player that Chiefs missed out on as he ended up playing for arch rivals, Orlando Pirates but this will not be the case with Ryan Moon.
It is too early to put pressure on young Moon, but he has character and could prove himself next season.
