Mamelodi Sundowns outspoken mentor, Pitso Mosimane, finds himself in lukewarm water amid a spree of allegations he levelled against Kaizer Chiefs after he mentioned that the club has been benefitting from referees 'mistakes.'
Referees are only human and are bound to make mistakes. The PSL DC has since written a love letter to 'Jingles' to come clean of his allegations he made. But the very independent league body has sanctioned match officials who were officiating two separate Chiefs matches. Athuxolo Madela had to take a four week break from officiating in any football match in the country, because of his 'mistake' that impacted the outcome of the game between Chiefs and Amazulu.
It was then the turn of Baroka to suffer the same fate of being hard done by the referee. Mervyn Van Wyk also found himself wanting in handing Amakhosi a 1-0 victory over Baroka. These officials were sanctioned by the PSL DC for impacting the results of the game. Pitso is not lying because even the DC has noticed that Chiefs are 'benefitting' from the 'mistakes' of referees.
Pitso acknowledges the fact that they too can make mistakes and in the same breath. A spade is a spade and not a gardening tool. How many coaches have raised the officials helping Chiefs? Benni McCarthy once said a referee should have just worn the Chiefs jersey and that was deemed too strong from the Cape Town City coach.
