New Chiefs Signing Missing – Why?

At the beginning of this season, the Amakhosi unveiled the signings of seven new Players, which was met by a great deal of excitement and renewed expectations by their faithful.

Amongst those was, one Enocent Mkhabela, a player who had previously given the glamour boys a torrid time while at former club's Platinum Stars and SuperSport United. The prospects of Mkhabela doing the damage, now in the famous Gold and Black, was enough to make the club supporters smile with glee. Fast forward a couple of months into the season and baring the recovering Keagan Buchanan, all of the team's new signings have featured, except Mkhabela.

This begs the question why? For a team that seems to be flat and devoid of quality in the middle of the park, to not give an opportunity to a tried and tested midfielder in the PSL seems rather suspicious. Instead Komphela has insisted with the ineffective Lucky Baloyi, and sometimes lackluster George Maluleka, who has looked a shadow of his former self since Komphela took over and dropped him. The question on my mind, that I have been waiting for journalists from big publications to ask is Where is Mkhabela? Why isn't he playing? Is he injured? If so, why hasn't that been communicated properly with the public?

If it is indeed a case of him being deemed not good enough to break into the team yet then, why isn't he featuring in the MDC at the very least? But more so, why would Chiefs sign a player who they feel wouldn't be ready to add value to the club straight away, while he is in his peak years? If he isn't good enough, then Bobby Motaung has once again failed the supporters of the Naturena-based club with his incompetent dealings in the transfer market.

What do you think has happened to Enocent Mkhabela?
