Bafana Bafana faces a mammoth task of qualifying for 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON), in Gabon.
The South African team is occupying third spot on the qualifying log, in Group M, below Mauritania and Cameroon. Cameroon (7) are five points clear of Bafana Bafana (2), who also trail Mauritania (6) by four points.
It seems inevitable that Cameroon will end top of the group and claim the only guaranteed qualifying berth from the pool. Shakes Mashaba's men have only managed to get two points from three matches. They’re on the verge of failing to qualify for the event.
They now have no choice but to win all of their next three games, and hope results somehow go their way elsewhere. As usual, we're relying on other matches' results for us to qualify for a major tournament. Mashaba's mandate is to qualify the national team for the tournament in Gabon, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
As things stand, Bafana will be hoping for a miracle to win their next three games, against all odds at that. One could say that's mission impossible for Bafana, considering they haven't registered a victory in a very long team, in an official game. It seems like Mashaba faces a possible failure in reaching 2017 AFCON finals.
Do you think Bafana willqualify for both tournaments?
