Hlompho Kekana has been in scintillating form this season. He has been hailed as the man behind Mamelodi Sundowns' great run so far. Sundowns have had a great season, and are on course to claim a treble this season.
They are currently competing for Nedbank Cup, PSL and CAF Champions League glory. Hlompho has been working hard in the midfield and his partnership with Bongani Zungu aided the emergence of a deadly trio at Downs, the Pretoria CBD, comprising of Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly.
The trio has set the PSL alight, and many suggest Billiat is the favorite to win the Player Of The Season award. They have excelled and Kekana hasgot to take credit for that. Just like at FC Barcelona, it seems like Kekana will have to watch his great work go unnoticed. At Barça, Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernández have always pulled the strings in the midfield, but Lionel Messi has always won all the praise.
As a result of their great work, Messi has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or a record five times. Xavi ended up leaving Camp Nou. It has always been argued that Messi wouldn't have tasted such success if it wasn't for the Spanish duo. Much like the Spanish duo, some are saying CBD wouldn't have been on such a song if itwasn't for Kekana. Whether Kekana will be overshadowed by Billiat, just like the Barça duo has been overshadowed by Messi, remains to be seen. If Billiat is crowned the Player Of The Season, Kekana would suffer the same fate as Iniesta and Xavi.
