Oupa ‘Ace’ Manyisa is one of Orlando Pirates’ senior players, having started with the club as a youngster from the Bucs development ranks. Ace then made his name in the black jersey, back in 2012, where he partnered well will Andile Jali.
Since then Manyisa has been known as Mzansi's Iniesta, helping Bucs to win trophies. Ace also guided the Parktown club to the finals of both CAF competitions: the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League.
However, the saying that goes 'nothing lasts forever' is true and recently, ‘Ace’ has found it difficult to help Bucs maintain their status as a top club, which can be proven by their position on the league table, taking into account that the Buccaneers qualified for the top eight.
As a captain of Bucs, Manyisa is expected to perform better than the rest. The fact that he is a captain comes with many responsibilities and therefore Ace, as a senior player, should understand that. On the other hand, perhaps Ace has passed his best, or age is catching up with him.
Having said that, is Manyisa past his best?
