Chopping and changing has never been the right decision for many PSL teams over the seasons.
Chippa United boss, Siviwe Mpengesi found himself showing the door to another coach after putting Dan Malesela on a special leave. Now the question is whether it was the right time to sideline him, especially at this critical stage of the season.
Before he left, he managed to get the team to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals. Although they were already flirting with the relegation zone under his guidance, the positives were that they were not losing and were playing out draws.
Now the Eastern Cape outfit is yet to taste a win or even a draw under Mbuyiselo Sambu's leadership. Thus far, he has lost all the games he’s overseen, and letting go of Dan Malesela, which is what Chippa have done, even though they call it “special leave”, was never going to be the solution, especially at this critical moments in the league.
Everyone was starting to sing their praises, as Mpengesi’s decisions and leadership, until this happened, was bearing fruitful results. After their lost against fellow strugglers highlands park on the weekend at Makhulong Stadium, the Chilli Boys have their future in their hands but everything is falling apart as they find themselves in the relegation zone again after two successful seasons in the South African top flight league.
