The biggest mistake Irvin Khoza made in the last 10 years was that he had to listened to the fans, who wanted Ruud Krol out in his second season because of few defeats.
Supporters were still disappointed at Krol for losing the league title in last minutes of his first season at Pirates. They grew impatient with the Dutch born mentor as soon as he lost anything in his second season. Dr Irvin Khoza didn't fire the coach as supporters asked, and he stood behind the coach – then Krol repaid chairman's faith by winning three trophies.
The first mistake was to let Krol go, when he just made the foundation to build upon, with fans singing his praises. The second mistake was to let his assistant, Craig Rosslee go. Then, Bringing back Floyd Mbele to replace the successful Senzo Mazingiza was one of these biggest mistakes, Khoza dismantled a winning combination and uprooted the foundation was laid.
Then the most successful captain in the PSL era, Lucky Lekgwathi, retired and that was the final nail in the coffin, and that was the end of Pirates, where all the winners were replaced by lesser quality players. Now, everyone is paying for their mistakes - fans for their impatience and Khoza for blind decisions.
Is there still a chance for Khoza to clean the mess he caused at Pirates or is it the end of another Giant in Soweto?
