Pitso Mosimane is now under a lot of pressure after failing to get a win in his last five matches, with the Mamelodi Sundowns fans growing impatient with him as results no longer favour their side.
Undermining local teams cost Downs, because, after winning the CAF Champions League, they seemed to have become egotistical. Don’t forget that, even on their way to the title, they were lucky to get to the to group stages and their group was made up of three teams, so it’s not like they necessarily won the tournament because they are the best, but to them, it was like they fought tooth and nail for their success.
Mosimane once said that only Sundowns could beat Sundowns and that meant that he saw no competition in the PSL for his team. That was undermining and disrespectful and gave his fans the wrong idea that their team is unbeatable and is destined to collect everything on offer.
Now that the team is not delivering what was expected, fans have forgotten the CAF Champions League and Super Cup titles and are beginning to question Mosimane’s quality as a coach. The coach himself created this situation, without considering that the fans could turn on him.
Are Downs fans being unfair to Mosimane? As team that’s struggling lately, should the Yellow nation be patient with Mosimane? Has the CAF success made Pitso and Downs fans arrogant and undermine the PSL?
