Despite having plenty of experience, Tsepo Masilela may have to go the extra mile if he wants to remain as Chiefs first choice for the left back position.
This follows the successful swap deal that saw Amakhosi welcome Sibusiso Khumalo to Naturena. The former SuperSport United player is known for his ability, good crosses and for making extravagant runs. Khumalo could be real competition to Masilela because his ability is similar to the 32-year-old’s.
Truth be told, the likes of Keegan Ritchie, Siphiwe Mtsweni and Levy Mokgothu weren't good enough to emulate Masilela, hence they couldn't manage to get game time. However, the upcoming season could be a real test for Masilela.
One would say there's no such problem and Masilela is the first choice, just like with the Matlaba and Phungwayo situation at Pirates. The fact is that Tsepo is in the latter stages of his career and therefore young players like Khumalo should be prepared to take over.
Having said that, do you think Tsepo Masilela will maintain his form, and be first choice over Sibusiso Khumalo?
