Kaizer Chiefs are having a terrible league run and fingers are being pointed in every direction.
Amakhosi haven't had a fruitful pre-season, but they can still fix that. Former Bafana Bafana midfielder, Kagisho 'KG' Dikgacoi, is a free agent, and so is ex Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Ruzaigh Gamildien.
Chiefs can do with the two's services, and here is why:
'KG' has been overseas long enough to be a force to be reckoned with locally. We've all witnessed in the past that overseas rejects could come in handy in the PSL. When Benni McCarthy wasn't good enough to play overseas any longer, he returned to set PSL alight with Orlando Pirates. Remember Siyabonga 'Bhele' Nomvethe? He returned home and became Top Goalscorer with 19 goals. Siboniso Gaxa, Bernard Parker and Tsepo Masilela's returns all paid dividends for Amakhosi.
At 32, Dikgacoi coming from England could be an asset to Amakhosi, even though it won't be for long. Gamildien has always stood out at Ikamva, and could be a good acquisition for Steve Komphela. At 27, Gamaldien's best years are still ahead of him. With Keegan Buchanan and Gamildien, as well as Katsande, Chiefs will have a solid engine.
Currently, Reneilwe Letsholonyane's absence is being felt in the midfield. Hendrick Ekstein isn't giving fans much hope. The duo could bolster the team’s engine and give the coach options in the middle of the park. Football games are won or lost from the middle, and Amakhosi are really lacking quality in that department.
They have Katsande, but he doesn't help as much in the final third. Unlike Katsande, Dikgacoi and Gamildien are a goal-threats. They have no box-to-box midfielder, and 'KG' would come in handy even though he's not a box-to-box or attacking midfielder. Perhaps his overseas experience would help him adapt fast.
It might seem like a desperate move by Amakhosi, but the duo could help turn the tables around at Naturena.
Do you think Chiefs would do well to sign KG and Gamildien?
