Tshepo Matete has surprised many after signing from amateur football to professional by NFD log leaders, Baroka FC.
The 23-year-old needed only 10 minutes to prove his potential and readiness for professional football, helping his side to secure victory over an experienced AmaZulu side on his debut by scoring. Matete, who's well known as 'Shkwama Samatariyana' is proving to be a true reflection of South African football, and he was popular before he even became a professional footballer.
What he does best on the pitch, is what Kaizer Chiefs apparently lack. Therefore, with his proficiency, 'Shkwama' can develop more skills in a bigger club like Amakhosi, whilst their faithful might also come out in numbers, like before when they use to have Jabu Pule Mahlangu and Scara 'Black Jesus' Ngobese.
Fans wouldn't mind filling the stadium just for the entertainment. To build for the future, Chiefs may have to sign young talented players who can carry them next season and I believe they can easily get Matete from Baroka FC, knowing that his price tag is still low. On the other hand, it can release pressure from Hendric Pule Ekstein, who is currently believe to be Chiefs crowd puller. He can also give coach Steve more options in attack.
Do Chiefs need Tsepho Matete, for the sake of pleasing the crowd and changing games?
