After Kaizer Chiefs lost their first Absa Premiership match against Bidvest Wits last night, one could make a very clear judgment on the team’s transfer strategy.
Steve Komphela’s team was reduced to nothing more than a group of individuals that appear to have just been promoted to the top flight. Chiefs fans will now be asking the team what’s next, because the season ahead looks like it will be filled with draws, losses and plenty of heartbreaking moments.
However, there is still good news. Chiefs have an opportunity to change the state of affairs and they just need to take action. But, as we’ve seen with the club’s management, they can be very stubborn, continue with their current strategy and expect miracles. That option would be to look into the transfer market and find quality players before the window slams shut.
There are surely many players that can still be brought in and Amakhosi just need to pick out the best of them. If the management intends to put the fans through the same misery that they went through last season, they can continue the way that they have been, but it’s ultimately up to then if they want change. The ball is in their court; they just need to decide whether or not they are willing to spend money on the players that the team needs.
Do you think Chiefs’ management will take advantage of what remains of the transfer window?
