You Choose The Team Of The Week

Soccer Laduma’s ‘Team of the Week’ is a feature in each and every Soccer Laduma edition, highlighting the top performers from the Premier Soccer League clubs.

Selections are based on the performances of players in Round 22 & 23 of the Absa Premiership from last week Tuesday up to Sunday.

Kaizer Chiefs lost their fourth league match of the season when they hosted Jomo Cosmos at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday, March 15. It was Mxolisi Macuphu's long range strike that sealed the victory for 'Ezenkosi'.

Ajax Cape Town beat University of Pretoria by a deficit goal at the Tuks Stadium on Wednesday, March 16. Toriq Losper was the hero of the day as his goal was enough to earn his side three points.

James Keene was on target yet again as Bidvest Wits defeated Orlando Pirates at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday evening. Moeneeb Josephs played a vital role in keeping Pirates from equalising.

Mamelodi Sundowns lost their first league match in 2016 at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening. Teko Modise missed a penalty in the first half. Lyle Lakay, Fiston Abduol Razak and Lantshene Phalane were on target for the away side, while Sundowns could only manage a consolation goal from Wayne Arendse.

Supersport United put on a solid performance to beat Golden Arrows by three goals to nil on Saturday afternoon. Dove Wome opened the scoring in the fourth minute and Kingston Nkhatha scored in the 27th minute. It was Jeremy Brockie who sealed the victory with an easy tap-in for his 10th goal of the season.

Free State Stars were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Polokwane City at the Goble Park Stadium. Lucky Mohomi was on strike for the home team while Muzikayifani Ngidi equalized for the 'Rise and Shine' in the 70th minute.

It was an entertaining affair at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium as Chippa United and Maritzburg United played to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon. The Team of Choice drew first blood through Philani Zulu and five minutes later Andile Mbenyane equalized for the home team. In the 39th minute Andile Fikizolo scored for Maritzburg United. Evans Rusike equalised on the brink of half time.

Platinum Stars beat Mpumalanga Black Aces by one goal to nil on Sunday afternoon. Ndumiso Mabena's seventh goal of the season was enough for Dikwena to move four points clear of fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs.

The Soccer Laduma journos are currently in deliberation over this week’s selections. In the meantime we want to hear from you as to who you think should be in the Soccer Laduma ‘Team of the Week’.

Every Monday you will get the chance to post your ‘Team of the Week’. See how close you get to the one which will appear in the new Soccer Laduma on Wednesday.
