2014 was a bitter-sweet year for Kaizer Chiefs and their supporters, and while there were plenty more positives than negatives, it will be the negatives that remain in the immediate memory.
Success in the MTN8 will have gone some way in alleviating the pain of missing out on last season's Absa Premiership title, however the memory of throwing away such a big lead in the league will linger in their minds for the foreseeable future.
Defeat in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup was also another low point for the club in 2014, however they will no doubt be hoping to exorcise those demons in this year's tournament.
The Amakhosi managed to end 2014 on an impressive 22-game unbeaten streak, with Stuart Baxter leading the club to plenty of personal and national records along the way. Baxter won more personal accolades than any other coach in South Africa in 2014 and became the longest serving current head coach in the top-flight when Steve Barker left University of Pretoria.
There was also the small matter of beating Orlando Pirates three times in 2014, beating them twice in the league and once in the MTN8 final.
