NWU Remain Unbeaten

In what was a do-or-die game for UFS-Kovsies turned into a match filled with attacking football and missed chances as they failed to inflict a first defeat on NWU-Mafikeng.
Both sides did their best to get maximum points but were guilty of missing clear opportunities as the match concluded in an entertaining 1-1 draw.
Kovsies made a fast start as they went in search of an early goal but came up against a strong NWU defence who kept them at bay.
Lindani Dudula thought he broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 10th minute but his celebrations were cut short when he realised he was flagged for being offside.
Jay Jay Groenewald got onto the end of a corner by Simon Madupi in the 16th minute but the striker couldn't keep his header down and watched the ball sail over the crossbar.
There were chances for both sides to take the lead within the first 25 minutes of the match but both sides lacked the finishing touch to get the ball into the net.
The home side would be the first to get on the scoresheet in the dying moments of the first half when Groenewald was brought down by Amogelang Maduo in the box.
Manxubandile Bantshi stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake by calmly putting the ball into the back of the net as he handed his team a slender 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.
The second half started as the first ended with both teams playing attacking football.
NWU had an ideal chance to draw level in the 65th minute but Kagiso Modimoeng blasted his shot over the crossbar.
The visitors were back in the game in the 75th minute when Modimoeng found the back of the net to level the match.
The game sparked into life as both sides looked to get the winner but, as it had been for most of the match, couldn't find the back of the net and the teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.
