UL Have Tricks For UWC

Teams: UWC v Limpopo

Date: Monday, August 18

Venue: UWC Stadium (Cape Town)

UWC will be aiming straight for the jugular when they take on Varsity Football strugglers UL in Cape Town on Monday night.

However, despite three successive losses, UL remain upbeat about their chances of making the final four this season.

UL assistant coach Strada Dhlamini has warned, “It ain’t over until the fat lady sings.”

The Cape students will be hungry for another win after bagging their first victory of the competition against last year’s finalists NMMU-Madibaz.

But Dhlamini says the boys from Limpopo will have a trick or two up their sleeves on Monday night.

“We are working on keeping the ball. We are working on not having too much turnover of the ball. Against Tuks we lost the ball quiet easily. That is what we focused on mainly at training this week,” he said.

He says Limpopo will look to keep it tight at the back and not allow UWC space and time on the ball.

“We must put them under pressure. We must be quick on the ball. We must not allow them to settle, even in their own background.  It’s going to be a wonderful game,” Dhlamini added.

UL’s only concern is captain Pholoshi Bapela, who is out suspended after being handed his third yellow card last week.

Kgotlelo Kgoete replaces Bapela and Edgar Mafunisa will take charge as captain in Cape Town.

For UCT, Thulani Mkosi, Curtley Beukes and Akhona Bonga all picked up knocks but make the squad as substitutes and could play a part against UL.

Keanan Davids is back from injury and Williams believes the experienced midfielder could play a part on Monday night.
