University of Pretoria goalkeeper Tristyn Coetsee will await head coach Steve Barker's decision as to whether or not he will feature in the Varsity Football Challenge final against Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
Coetsee featured only once for AmaTuks in the 2012/13 Absa Premiership season, with the reliable Washington Arubi playing the rest of the 29 PSL matches.
Game-time is hard to come by for young goalkeepers in the modern game, with coaches being forced to produce results week-in and week-out, which meant that Coetsee didn't get the opportunity to showcase his potential which he was initially singed for.
However, the 26-year-old shot stopper has been highly impressive in UP-Tuks’ Varsity Cup campaign this far. Coetsee formed an instrumental part in helping his side get into the final with excellent displays throughout the competition.
AmaTuks head coach, Steve Barker, tells the Siya crew that he will have to look at the squad and the match against Bloemfontein Celtic before making a final decision, whether or not to allow Coetsee to play in the Varsity Cup final.
Barker told Soccer-Laduma, “He’s been playing in the tournament from the start. It’s been good for him to get some game-time. He’s kept five clean sheets in the last six games, which is a good sign for us. We’ve got a game on Wednesday, but I’m sure he will play in the final on Monday.”
