Victor Letsoalo’s former coach at Peace United, Paen Nkhwashu, knows how much the Bafana Bafana striker adores Kaizer Chiefs and has revealed that donning the famous black and gold is on the player’s list of wishes.
The 29-year-old Royal AM star has been in red-hot form this campaign, banging home 14 DStv Premiership goals, and is behind Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile on the goalscoring leaderboard.
According to sources, Letsoalo is on the shopping list of Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates, while Sekhukhune are believed to have also expressed an interest in the star. Nkhwashu has explained why a move to Naturena in the next transfer window will be better suited for Letsoalo.
“Victor grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs, and looking at the two teams [Pirates and Chiefs], I would advise him to join Chiefs because they can fit his style of play,” Nkhwashu told the Siya crew.
“I believe he can do well at the club because he is hungry to play for Chiefs. But the club needs to refresh. They are not playing badly, it is just that they are not bringing any glory to the Village.
“Last season, they reached the CAF Champions League final, so it shows that they just need to sign a few new quality players, but with the likes of Victor coming in and other players they might acquire to bolster the squad, they will do well in the coming seasons.”
Nkhwashu is also confident that Letsoalo can handle the pressure of playing for a big club like the Glamour Boys.
“Victor is a big player for big games. He scored about 37 goals in his first season with us [at Peace United] and did well at Bloemfontein Celtic,” he said.
“He is not a talented player but a hard worker hence he is now playing for Bafana. And what I like about him is that he never gives up. So I have no doubt that Chiefs is the right team for him.”
