Watch All The Lockdown League Action As The Quarter-Finals Beckon!

South Africa’s first-ever Lockdown League FIFA tournament brought to you by Soccer Laduma, HyperSocial, and Reyaad Pieterse has seen some of the best footballers and athletes face each other, and now the competition is really set to heat up.

As we enter the quarter-final stage, let's take a brief look at the first round of unforgettable action.

Liverpool duo, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, joined in the fun, as they reacted on Instagram to Wayde Van Niekerk’s match-up against Dylan Sage, where the African star was accused of copying the Brazilian's celebrations.

Closer to home, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Sibusiso Vilakazi recorded the biggest win of round one over teammate, Lyle Lakay, while Kaizer Chiefs development coach, Tshidiso Letsholoynane, overcame Bidvest Wits midfielder, Thabang Monare, in a crazy 6-3 win.

With only eight contenders remaining, let’s take a look at the players who all have one goal in mind, victory.

Alexander v Van Niekerk

The first quarter-final sees Bidvest Wits midfielder, Cole Alexander, take on Olympic Gold medalist, Wayde Van Niekerk. Alexander said that his opponent would be easy to play against, while the world record holder was humble, saying that all the talking would happen in the game.

Gordinho v Jooste

Highlands Park winger, Wayde Jooste, will face ex Bidvest Wits midfielder, Anthony Gordinho. While Gordinho didn’t mince his words saying, “I heard you think you’re good,” Jooste simply said he enjoys beating any opponent that gets in his way.

Vilakazi v Ngoma

The Mamelodi Sundowns battle sees Sibusiso Vilakazi take on Aubrey Ngoma. Although they are teammates on the field, both players are in it to win it. Ngoma said he hopes his opponent is ready, while Vilakazi said that Ngoma will need all the luck he can get.

Pieterse v Letsholonyane

The final match-up will see two of the loudest competitors battle it out. Sundowns goalkeeper, Reyaad Pieterse, told his opponent that he talks the talk because he can walk the walk. Tshidiso Letsholonyane’s message was direct, “dynamite comes in small packages.”
