News reaching the Siya crew is that AmaZulu FC have upped the ante in their chase for one of the club's coaching targets.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Usuthu are believed to have shortlisted Mamelodi Sundowns coach Steve Komphela alongside coach Stuart Baxter, who has parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs.
Indications are that no formal offers are on the table yet, with interim coach Brandon Truter also in the running for the permanent post.
Insiders have revealed that Usuthu have made haste in their quest for Komphela, despite contractual obligations that tie the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor to Chloorkop until 2024.
This means that should discussions begin for the 54-year-old, Usuthu would have to dig deep due to his release clause at Downs.
Siya sources have indicated that Komphela would be open to a return to KwaZulu-Natal, where he spent time at Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows in his nomadic career.
